FIRE AID member the Asian Fire Service Association (AFSA) is holding its AGM and Development Day on 26-27th May 2016.

Hosted by Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, the theme of this year’s AFSA conference is ‘Responding to the Refugee Crisis’ – working individually, collectively and in collaboration with partners to achieve better outcomes for refugees and asylum seekers.

Topics will include:

1. Understanding the role of the fire and rescue service in welcoming and supporting refugees to reduce risks and keep them safe
    
2. Our role as a public sector organisation tasked with eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and promoting understanding
    
3. Ensuring employees have the right level of awareness and understanding to work with different communities.
