FIRE AID Meets with Tools for Self Reliance Volunteers
Julie Utting (FIRE AID and EASST) and Matt Hitam (Operation Florian) visited the charity’s Bristol support group run by volunteers to discuss cooperation.
At the invitation of the Bristol supoprt group of Tools for Self Reliance, Julie Utting (FIRE AID and EASST) and Matt Hitam (Operation Florian) visited the charity to discuss common areas of interest between FIRE AID and Tools for Self Reliance.
Tools for Self Reliance are a UK based charity working to help relieve poverty in Africa. They work with local African organisations to deliver a programme of tools and training to bring about effective and sustainable change to trades people and their communities. The primary countries they work in are: Ghana, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
The charity has a number of groups operating throughout the UK – receiving donations of tools from the public and refurbishing them for inclusion in the tool kits for African communities. Some of the tools received by the charity are not of use for their specific tool kits, yet can be beneficial to FIRE AID projects and key to ensuring the maintenance of fire and rescue vehicles used to save lives across the globe.
