Operation Florian sends further equipment donations to Zimbabwe.
In November 2021, Operation Florian delivered a further six fire appliances to the Zimbabwean fire service. FIRE AID members, Operation Florian have been working in Zimbabwe since 2011. The on-going project includes the delivery of a wide variety of essential fire fighting equipment and training which started with Bulawayo fire service and expanded from there.
This latest equipment donation will travel by boat to Walvis Bay in Namibia. From there they will be collected by the Zimbabwean fire service and driven over 1,500 miles to their various destinations across Zimbabwe. The fire appliances will strengthen previous equipment donations and training provided by Operation Florian and will provide vital fire cover, enabling the local fire service to respond to incidents within their communities and surrounding areas.
The appliances were donated from various UK fire and rescue services including South Wales FRS. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all supporting UK fire and rescue services for their donations of decommissioned equipment, which helps fire and rescue services around the world.
