These terms and conditions govern your use of the FIRE AID and International Development website and certain activities carried out through it. Please read them carefully before using the website, making a donation or submitting information to us.

This website is operated by FIRE AID and International Development (referred to in these terms as “FIRE AID”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

2. Acceptance of these terms
By using this website, you confirm that you accept these terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you should not use the website.
Additional terms may apply to a particular donation, appeal, event, membership, training activity, grant, sponsorship arrangement, equipment donation or service. If there is a conflict, the specific terms supplied for that activity will take priority.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. Our cookie controls provide information about cookies and similar technologies used on the website.
3. Using this website
You may use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not:
use it in a way that breaches any applicable law or regulation;
use it fraudulently or for an unlawful purpose;
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its server or any connected system;
knowingly introduce viruses, malicious code or other harmful material;
interfere with the website’s operation or security;
collect information about other users without lawful authority;
impersonate FIRE AID, a member of our team or another person;
suggest that you represent or are endorsed by FIRE AID without written permission; or
reproduce, scrape or exploit website content for commercial purposes without permission.
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect FIRE AID, our systems, our partners or other users.
4. Information on the website
We take reasonable care to keep information accurate and up to date. However, our work, projects, figures and operational circumstances can change quickly. We do not guarantee that every page will always be complete, current or free from error.
Website content is provided for general information. It is not legal, financial, medical, technical, safety or other professional advice and should not be relied upon as such.
FIRE AID is not an emergency service. If you are facing an emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency service.
Submitting an enquiry does not oblige FIRE AID to provide funding, equipment, training, services, employment, membership or a partnership. No agreement is created unless it is confirmed by an authorised representative of FIRE AID.
5. Donations
Donations made through the website are voluntary gifts to support FIRE AID’s charitable purposes. Unless an appeal clearly states otherwise, donations are unrestricted and may be used wherever the trustees consider they will most effectively further FIRE AID’s charitable purposes.
Where an appeal allows you to express a preference for a particular project, we will take reasonable steps to honour that preference. A preference is not necessarily a legally binding restriction unless we expressly accept it as one.
If a donation is accepted subject to a legally binding restriction, FIRE AID will administer it in accordance with that restriction and applicable charity law. If an appeal cannot proceed, raises more than required or otherwise fails, the use or return of funds will be determined in accordance with the terms of the appeal and applicable law.
We may refuse or return a donation where required by law or where the trustees reasonably decide that doing so is in FIRE AID’s best interests and they have legal authority to do so. This may include donations that:
originate from an illegal or suspicious source;
are made without the donor’s authority or legal capacity;
carry unlawful, inappropriate or unmanageable conditions;
fall outside FIRE AID’s charitable purposes;
could compromise our independence; or
expose FIRE AID, our beneficiaries or our partners to disproportionate legal, financial, safeguarding or reputational risk.
Donation errors and refund requests
Donations are not ordinary purchases and are normally final once accepted. If you make a duplicate payment, enter the wrong amount, believe a payment was unauthorised or make another genuine error, contact info@fire-aid.org as soon as possible with the date, amount and transaction reference.
Any return will be considered individually and remains subject to charity law, trustee duties, the terms of the payment provider and any Gift Aid or tax implications. Where a return is approved, it will normally be made to the original payment method. Nothing in these terms affects any right you have under applicable law.
FIRE AID may use a third-party payment or fundraising platform. Its own terms and privacy notice may also apply. We are not responsible for additional fees or currency-conversion charges imposed by your bank, card provider or the platform where these were clearly disclosed by that provider.
You confirm that you are authorised to use the chosen payment method and that the information you provide is accurate. If you are under 18, you should make an online donation only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
6. Gift Aid
If you make a Gift Aid declaration, you confirm that:
you are eligible for Gift Aid under UK law;
you are a UK taxpayer and understand that you must have paid sufficient UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in the relevant tax year; and
the name and home address in your declaration are accurate.
If FIRE AID claims more Gift Aid than the tax you have paid, HM Revenue and Customs may require you to pay the difference.
You must tell us if you wish to cancel your declaration, change your name or home address, or no longer pay sufficient tax. Gift Aid cannot normally be claimed on payments where you receive a benefit that exceeds the limits set by HM Revenue and Customs.
7. Fundraising for FIRE AID
If you fundraise for FIRE AID, you must act lawfully, honestly and responsibly. Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, you are an independent supporter and are not an employee, agent or authorised representative of FIRE AID.
You are responsible for:
making clear that you are fundraising in support of FIRE AID rather than acting on our behalf;
obtaining any licences, permissions, insurance or risk assessments required for your activity;
protecting the health, safety, privacy and dignity of participants;
keeping funds secure and transferring them promptly;
maintaining accurate records where appropriate;
complying with fundraising, advertising, data-protection, safeguarding and consumer-protection requirements; and
following the rules of any venue or fundraising platform you use.
You must not use pressure, misleading statements, offensive material or unsafe practices when fundraising. You must not deduct expenses from funds raised unless this has been clearly disclosed to donors and agreed with FIRE AID where necessary.
Use of FIRE AID’s name, logo or campaign materials must follow any brand guidance we provide. Our logo must not be altered, and its use does not imply approval of a person, organisation, product or political position. We may withdraw permission to use our name or branding where reasonably necessary to protect the charity.
Please contact us before organising a high-risk, large-scale, commercial or publicly ticketed event in FIRE AID’s name.
8. Equipment donations
Submitting information about equipment does not mean that FIRE AID has accepted it. Acceptance is subject to assessment and written confirmation.
If you offer equipment, vehicles or other goods, you confirm that:
you own them or have authority to donate them;
they are not subject to undisclosed finance, security interests or third-party rights;
descriptions, service histories and safety information supplied are accurate to the best of your knowledge;
known faults, contamination, damage, missing components and restrictions have been disclosed; and
their donation, possession, transport and export are lawful.
FIRE AID may inspect, decline or place conditions on an equipment donation. Responsibility for collection, transport, costs, ownership and risk will be agreed separately. Do not send or deliver equipment without prior arrangement.
9. Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the website and its contents—including text, photographs, films, graphics, designs, logos, reports and downloadable materials—are owned by FIRE AID or used with the permission of their respective owners. They are protected by copyright, trade-mark and other intellectual-property laws.
You may view the website and print or download reasonable extracts for personal, non-commercial use. You must not reproduce, edit, distribute, sell, license, publish or commercially exploit our content without prior written permission.
You must not use photographs, films, interviews or case studies in a way that removes their context, misrepresents the people shown or compromises their dignity, privacy or safety.
FIRE AID’s name and logo may not be used to suggest endorsement, affiliation or approval without written permission.
10. Material you provide to us
If you submit photographs, videos, text, testimonials, designs or other material, you confirm that you have the right to provide it and that its use will not infringe another person’s rights or breach any law, duty of confidence or safeguarding obligation.
You remain the owner of your material. Where we agree to receive it for publication or promotion, you grant FIRE AID a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, edit, translate, publish and communicate it for the purpose agreed with you. Any specific consent form, release or written agreement will take priority over this paragraph.
You must not submit material that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, discriminatory, deliberately misleading, invasive of privacy, sexually explicit or likely to create a security or safeguarding risk.
We may decline, edit or remove submitted material where reasonably necessary, but we are not obliged to publish it.
11. External links and third-party services
The website may link to services and websites operated by other organisations, including payment providers, fundraising platforms, social-media services and project partners.
Links are provided for convenience and do not necessarily constitute endorsement. FIRE AID does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their availability, security, content or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy notices.
If another website links to FIRE AID, the link must be fair and lawful and must not damage our reputation or imply an association that does not exist. We may request the removal of a link that does not meet these requirements.
12. Website availability and security
We aim to keep the website available and secure, but access may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, technical problems or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website without notice where reasonably necessary.
We take reasonable measures to protect the website, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be free from viruses or other harmful material. You are responsible for using appropriate security and virus-protection software on your own devices.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
If you use the website as a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, or is caused by your failure to follow these terms.
The website is provided for domestic and private use. If you use it for a business or professional purpose, FIRE AID will not be liable, to the extent permitted by law, for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the website.
We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of independent third parties merely because they are mentioned or linked to on our website. This does not affect any responsibility FIRE AID may have under a separate written agreement.
14. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By submitting information through the website, you confirm that the information is accurate and that you have authority to provide it.
If you provide personal information about another person, you must ensure that you are legally permitted to do so and, where appropriate, that the person has been given access to our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to our website, activities, service providers or legal obligations. The revised terms will take effect when published on this page. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.
If separate terms govern an ongoing activity or agreement, changes will be handled in accordance with those terms.
16. Severability and waiver
If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
If we do not enforce a provision immediately, this does not mean that we have waived our right to enforce it later.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer living in England or Wales, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you access the website from another country, any mandatory rights available under the law of that country remain unaffected.
If you use the website for business purposes, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
