FIRE AID LAUNCHES CONVOY 10 APPEAL FOR UKRAINE'S FIREFIGHTERS
CONVOY 9’s drivers are home. Seventeen fire appliances, three vans and a prime mover, carrying 2,355 pieces of equipment, have reached Ukrainian crews who had lost theirs. Now FIRE AID is launching CONVOY 10, but we need your help to fund it. The target is £50,000.

Convoy 10 matters more than ever. By 21 June this year, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service had counted its losses since the invasion. The crews keep responding regardless, day after day, with whatever they have left.

This is what sets Convoy 10 apart from a conventional aid delivery. This is not a logistics operation run by intermediaries. UK firefighters are contributing their own time and leave, driving uncomfortable fire engines and vans thousands of miles across Europe, and handing over operational control directly to their counterparts at the point of transfer. It is a peer-to-peer model of mutual solidarity and support in order to provide humanitarian relief. Each convoy builds something that outlasts the delivery itself: an institutional relationship between services, a sustained mechanism of solidarity, and locally-owned resilience capacity that neither side is building in isolation.

Match funding like this is an act of solidarity in its own right - one part of the community standing behind another - and it means the public’s generosity goes twice as far. With the match in place, a £50,000 target becomes £100,000 of equipment moving toward Ukraine’s firefighters. That is the reason to give now rather than later. Once the matched fund is gone, a pound is worth a pound again.
