NEPAL

our work in nepal

Fire and rescue services in Nepal operate across some of the most challenging terrain in the world. In remote and mountainous areas, limited road access, long response times and gaps in equipment and training can turn an emergency into a disaster. FIRE AID has worked in Nepal since 2009, working alongside local fire and rescue services and community partners to strengthen emergency response and prevent fires before they happen.

Explore our work in Nepal through our two main areas of focus. Learn how we are supporting the development of Everest Fire and Rescue and working with communities to improve fire prevention and protection.

Everest fire and rescue

From its origins in FIRE AID’s long-term work in Nepal to the development of Everest Fire & Rescue, the project has grown into a locally focused programme building fire, rescue and emergency preparedness capability across the Khumbu.

Fire Prevention and Protection

Fire and rescue capacity is uneven across Nepal. In many communities, difficult terrain, distance, and limited access to equipment and training can constrain how quickly and safely emergencies are dealt with.
